Small Spiral first found Alaina Burri-Stone's photos at the wonderful magazine, Stirring. Alaina became the inspiration for the Autumn 2003 aesthetic. Cold, yet, warm greens and a sense of wilderness. The beautiful photo on the home page and all the contributor's pages were taken by Alaina. With her work and the genius of our designer, Lorissa Shepstone, we came up with the design for the Autumn 2003 Edition of Small Spiral Notebook. Sample Alaina's work below and feel free to check out her website for more of her work.

My name is Alaina Burri-Stone
I am 23 years old.
I work in digital photography and I am inspired by trial and error.
Taking pictures for me is a process of self discovery and self awareness.
In working with self portraits specifically you are given the ability to
deconstruct your views as to where you stand and exist in your environment,
and use the body & surrounding elements to explore and story tell.
I am currently collecting my work here: www.handmaid.org
I am also co-editing Nexus which is a celebration and collection of artists & their pieces.
Other places my work can be seen are:
Kiss Machine , F-Stop Magazine & various literary collections such as Stirring & Sometimes City.
As well as the upcoming group exhibition: E-Motion which is to take place in Portugal November 04-30, 2003
