Artist Profile: Lori Joy Smith

I stumbled onto this wonderful artist and illustrator purely by accident. It was a day where the trees were weighed down by yet another downpour and daylight under the piles and piles of work was far from reach. Browsing through Lori's site, one can't help but turn the corner of their mouth up. Her illustrations are playful and endearing, without being sentimental. An illustration of a lone girl reading a book under a tree is captured beautifully by the autumn golds and oranges. Her scarf a ribbon of blue that flutters from the cool wind along with the stirring leaves. Her e-cards are witty nuggets of affection and her paintings evocative and colorful - rich reds, blistering pinks, deep greens. Children would be soothed and inspired by her illustrations and adults are captivated by her cartoons and her endless sense of play that is infused in all of Lori Joy's work. After exploring this artist at work, I am delighted that accidents do indeed happen.
